Ron passed his swallow test. He will be able to start eating small amounts of food today...light liquids and very soft food. He is excited about this. If he can maintain his calorie intake ..hopefully, the feeding tube can come out very soon.
He is getting ready to have an echo done. We hope to have the results after lunch.
They will start hemodialysis today as well. He will also continue on his antibiotics until his sternum is repaired. Still no word on when this will be done. They are just taking things one step at a time. He seems even more alert today. Seveal nurses came in today that were gone all weekend and had not seen him since he went to the 6th floor. They came in to share with him everything that happened a week ago Sunday. Everyone was so excited to see him awake! He said it was so nice to see everyone, too. He takes in everything everyone shares with him because he still just does not remember anything.
