LEAVING THE ICU

The doctors have made rounds this morning. They removed the other drain tube Ron has had since getting his sternum repaired. His arterial line and central lines have been removed. He has one small IV that is used to administer medication but other than that....all lines are out! They are going to wait another day or two before they remove the temporary pacer wires....just as a precaution. They are also going to wait to remove the staples from the left and right groin area...these are the sites where they removed the ECMO tubing. The doctor does not want to rush to get those out just yet. The staples in his sternum will stay in longer. He is also moving out of ICU....if not today...tomorrow to the regular floor. His urine output has been awesome today...1450cc's so far today....very impressive. We were lucky some days to see 300cc's in a whole day!
He has been battling quite a bit of nausea today...we are not sure why. He will have an echo tomorrow ....hopefully, this is not a sign of rejection setting in again. We will keep positive thoughts.
His cousins came to visit him today ...he had a very nice visit ...he sat up on the edge of the bed for over an hour....he did so well.
We are hoping to get him to stand up this evening....even if just a few seconds...every little bit will help.
